Ficus Elastica
Our beloved tree was a monster when I moved in 30 years ago, but its roots got out of control, as in one that was heading towards the septic system had about 10″ above ground and 20″ more below the surface! Anyway, the roots reached the road and actually cracked and crossed it..
In 1998 or so we planted a Great Garden in case Y2K became a ‘thing’ and w/in the year there was a 4″ root 100+ feet away from the rubber tree.
One of the biggest heartbreaks the night they cut it down was hundreds of birds returning to home at sunset in search of their home…
Annual or Seasonal rings, I don’t know…
