Sorrento 9/21-23
Seen on a Plate Today: Sat. ~Pizza with fresh pomodoro,
basil, local mozzarella. Sunday ~ At last, a rainy day, barely got out today so
what was seen on a plate was basically only one meal and the camera never left
Jane's purse... However, so as to not let you gourmands down, we dined on the
following: shrimp cocktail [small shrimp in a sauce of mayo, tomato, lime juice
and an orange wedge served on lettuce]. Spaghetti carbonara and spaghetti with
garlic, olive oil, basil and chili oil. Scaloppini ala Marsala, a filet with
green peppercorn sauce and a couple of salads. For desert on the way home we
stopped in at a gelateria for a baba au rum ball, a few small scoops of
chocolate gelato and an aperitif. A few days ago we fine tuned our
appreciation of Chiantis with the discovery of Multipicianos, tonight we found a
particularly good '97.
